Cuban Missile Crisis - 1962 (Ch. 17.4)MAD – 1960s  - was a meeting between the US and Soviet Union and the USSR had set and destroyed part of Cuba and had been a huge deal because US was ready to go to war right after that and was scared that USSR would attack them from Cuba

Vietnam War - 1965-1975 (Ch. 17.3)
 - was the second in indochina war and was american war and America used a chemical weapon called Agent Orange. It had killed many people and made long-term problems for example mutations like with new borns and many scars on peoples bodies.

Détente - 1969-1979 (Ch. 17.5)
 - the easing of hostility or strained relations, especially between countries

SALT Negotiations - 1972 (Ch. 17.5)
 - was a agreement that said limitation on nuclear weapons and that the two countries USSR and US are to stop developing more nuclear weapons

Iranian Revolution - 1979 (Ch. 17.4) - this was big because the US had stepped in to help the Iranian people get revolution, it was a huge revolution becasue the people had been very angry with their government and that led to the government to overthrow their leader.

USSR invades Afghanistan - 1979 (Ch. 17.4) - this started a war and it lasted 9 years and the US started to support Afganistan during the war. USSR had started to fight with Afghanistan and started a war then the US stepped in then eventually would hurt them later. Couple years later US goes to war with Afghanistan and the Afghans had used the technology and supplies they got from the US against them
